about

Slowly Entering the Dream State is a drone piece that moves very, very slowly over a span of over two hours. I would recommend listening to it at medium to low volume. The music was very much inspired by the music of Éliane Radigue though Slowly Entering The Dream State was made with very different techniques.

Due to the original file size, I have had to split the audio and add a fade out in Part 1 and a fade in In Part 2. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to add the whole file here (in the meantime if you want the whole file get in touch)

This piece of music is a bit different from my usual releases. Instead of being made with tons of hardware synthesizers, it was made with an APP on my iPhone and iPad. The APP is Virtual ANS by Alexander Zolotov. I bought the APP in 2015 and this piece of music has been slowly coming together ever since. With the APP you draw with your finger on the screen and the picture creates sound. The cover of this album is in fact the picture that makes the sound via the APP. I exported the sound from the ANS APP as a .wav file and then mastered the track in Ableton using some stock compression and EQ, along some Valhalla DSP reverb in the form of Supermassive.

Here is a link to the APP in the Apple Store apps.apple.com/gb/app/virtual-ans-3/id1465860248

Alexander Zolotov’s site with lots about the APP and the original Instrument that it is a virtual recreation of warmplace.ru/soft/ans/

The Wikipedia about the original instrument that the APP is based on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANS_synthesizer

A lovely comment from Cyrille Verdeaux of Clearlight on Facebook "'totally hypnotic, especially with headphone..........Bravo"

about

David Kellett Hitchin, UK

I've been making electronic music for 40 years. With all that has happened or not happened in 2020 I have decided that I should actually record some of my music. I love music that encourages altered states of consciousness - so expect drones and overlapping cyclical sequences. ... more
